Maureen Beresford

Head of Corporate Governance, FRC

Maureen was a Civil Servant for over twenty years, mostly within the different guises of the Department for Business Enterprise and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), her last position being Head of Company Law and Reporting.  As part of that role she was responsible for a team who informed company law policy and supported Ministers on a number of legislative changes.

In 2017 Maureen moved  on secondment to the Financial Reporting Council, working on the review of the UK Corporate Governance Code and then the introduction to the Wates Principles for Large Private Companies.  In 2020 Maureen was appointed Head of Corporate Governance at the FRC.

Kathy Cong

Managing Director, Company Matters

Kathy is an experienced company secretary and governance professional with over 19 years’ experience. Prior to joining Company Matters as its Managing Director, she was Equiniti Group plc’s Company Secretary for four years and then led EQ’s company secretarial and governance services business, Prism Cosec. Kathy has also worked in-house for Investec plc, a dual-listed international banking and wealth management group, for over 13 years.

With extensive international governance experience, Kathy is an expert in Financial Services, Risk Management, Due Diligence, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Corporate Governance. She is dynamic, versatile and commercially focused and highly skillful in a broad range of areas; successfully leading teams and creating efficiencies in working practices, with a particular emphasis on corporate governance, board support, regulatory and statutory compliance, subsidiary management, share options and managing change and transformation in fast growth companies.

Courtney Menzies

Senior Manager, Company Matters

Courtney is an experienced Lawyer and Governance Professional with over 20 years’ experience in a range of sectors.  During her career she has operated at senior level for corporate service providers and in-house Company Secretariats. Courtney’s most recent role as Deputy Company Secretary for British Airways PLC saw her leading group-wide governance projects and providing training to directors. 

Delivering senior oversight and support as an outsourced company secretary, Courtney joined Company Matters as a Senior Manager in November 2021. She provides corporate governance advice, board support and statutory compliance to a range of clients. She also supports the development of more junior colleagues and is our team interior design expert!

Jai Baker

Head of Industry, Corporate Markets, Link Group

As Head of Industry at Link Group, Jai works closely with market peers, issuer clients, central government and other stakeholders across the financial services landscape. He is an active member and a Fellow of the Governance Institute (formerly the ICSA) and sits on multiple ICSA and industry-wide forums in both the UK and Ireland. Jai is the immediate former chair of the ICSA Registrars’ Group and an industry-recognised expert in the post-trade environment.
